Today marks the last week of summer before the girls go back to school. Their summer camps have wrapped up, so Anna and I have to manage our schedules this week to stay home with them. Today is my turn 🙂 Being a cool Dad, I already have the whole day planned with fun and exciting activities for the girls: Breakfast, renewing my driver’s licence, lunch, going to my favorite bike shop….the girls are going to love it!! 🙂
What a crazy summer it has been!! We raced a full triathlon season with 3 races (Welland Sprint, Toronto Olympic Distance, and Wasaga Beach Sprint). We did 2 concerts around Father’s Day. I spoke at a bunch of events, including 2 full day Mandarin gigs organized by my publisher, in between all of that I took on the new exciting responsibility of creating and coordinating a communication and social media strategy for work…even managed to take an online course to get “social media certified”! No wonder I feel tired…but, like I always say, go big or go home, right? 🙂
Looking ahead in the fall, I am preparing to speak at the annual conference of my good friends at Living Water Counselling Centre, again on the issue of mental wellness awareness. In October I will be ditching my bike and swim suit (Speedo……NOT) and putting on my running shoes to run the Scotia Bank Toronto Waterfront Half Marathon to raise funds for Water Ambassadors Canada. A wonderful non-profit whose CEO Kinson Leung is a lifelong friend. Add to that the usual daily craziness of living with three women, it will be a busy fall!
Training wise, I am taking a couple of days off to let the body recover from the pounding of a full triathlon season. After the October half marathon we will be back in the weight room, in the pool, on the bike and on the road to start preparing for next season. I will be moving up the distances to do longer course triathlons next season. Because everybody needs more pain and suffering! 🙂
What a crazy life! But I wouldn’t have it any other way…Oh yes, I will continue to speak and write, stay tuned for an exciting new writing project that is being cooked up right now 🙂 With all that going on, it was so nice to wrap up the summer this past weekend at Wasaga Beach with the family…that was the first time my 2 girls saw me crossing the finish line…it was quite a thrill for them 🙂 Anyways, time to go wake the girls and get the day rolling. Keep rocking my friends!!
